Amar joined Spotify in April 2018, and his key responsibility was to set up the company's operations in India and build its presence in the country through his experience in the consumer internet marketplaces and platforms. Under his leadership, Spotify has grown to become one of the most loved brands in India.
A seasoned entrepreneur and business leader with nearly two decades of experience. Amar was heading OLX India for 9 ½ years, prior to joining Spotify. As the Founder CEO of OLX in India, he built the brand and took the business to market leadership. During his tenure, he built a team of 500+ across marketing, product, technology, analytics, customer support, and sales. Amar also spent 5 ½ years at Baazee (now, eBay India), and headed their B2B auctions, cross border trade, category management, advertising sales & partnerships, and new business initiatives. He had a few stints in B2B marketplaces, and in international trade during the first ten years of his career, before joining Baazee.
In 2017, Amar featured in the LinkedIn Power Profiles (Internet). He was awarded ‘Marketer of the Year’ (e-commerce) by International Advertising Association (India Chapter) in 2015. In 2014, he was awarded the IDMA Digital Person of the Year. He was also on the 2012 and 2013 ‘IMPACT Digital Power 100’ list, which recognizes the most influential leaders in the Indian digital space.
